G'Day Blokes and Sheilas,
Since I'm travelling between Maine and Boston each week, it's become harder to keep in touch with people, so hopefully this will make it easier to say hi.
HI!
So I've now gone from being a C# developer/ SSRS report designer / (apparently set up as a) project manager / CIO's whipping boy to a (going to have to relearn) java developer / Essbase database admin / Access (Access? really) / whatever the heck else I can do / consultant that travels up and down to Maine from Boston and back.
Being paid to stay in hotels and get food paid for is pretty damnnnnnn sweet. But now I miss people both in Boston and Australia. Hope you all are well!
What else has been happening? Well, I've been doing a heck of a lot of nerdy stuff, but some athletic stuff as well to make up for it:
-I've got an XBOX 360 2nd hand, so I've been playing Gears of War and teh haloz and all that stuff. Eventually I'd like to get the game I'm developing on there, but there's so much to do right now it's getting hard to find time to program that.
-Did a triathlon on the 29th of August - 0.5 mile swim, 17 mile bike ride, 3.5 mile run or 800m swim, 27 km bike ride , and 5.6 km run.
-Currently do about 4-5 miles a week biking or jogging - but I'm not a massive running animal like Rohan - that guy can run!
-Going to sign up and do a Duoathlon in October, I'll know more about that soon.
-Got some Essbase training on next week, which I'll be in Boston for (Sweet!) so hopefully I can start to catch up with Boston people next week.
-I've set up Subversion, Gemini and remote desktop connection stuff on my computer, so I can access my computer at home from anywhere, which is sweet.
-Finally found an outdoor pool in Boston for 15 bucks a season, but the season ended last Monday. wah.
Anyway, hope to stay in touch with a lot of you through this, hope to hear about what everyone is up to!
Talk to you later,
Nathan
