Yahtzee gets lost in the huge meadows of "Oblivion"

This week, Yahtzee ditches JRPGs for the greener pastures of Western RPGs, and doesn't have much to say about them either. This one is called "Oblivion". Hope you didn't waste too much of your life on it.

I remember when I was a teenager, I was kinda into the whole 30-60 hour RPG, but mostly the Japanese ones. While playing a JRPG, I'd feel like I'd learn something about the general nature of people. I'd hardly ever play a western RPG. There was something about pretending to be something or someone else, especially someone else wearing a skirt of iron rings as armour, in a game that was just lame.

Well, unless you were a bad-arse vault-dweller with the "Bloody Mess" trait, anyway. The Fallout series was amazing! The third one is coming out soon, with some awesome pre-order goodies.

Yahtzee reviews "The World Ends with You"

This week, Yahtzee reviews a game I've had a for a while. A JRPG called "The World Ends with You" about some kids stuck into a Game where they have finish mission or they die. Sounds pretty hardcore, but it's not.

One of the cool things about the japanese is they always take things to the extreme. The game's whole core issue, like most JRPGs, is all about a morose teen who has no friends relising he needs friends. EXCEPT THIS TIME, if he doesn't make friends he DIES. boga boga.

Another Japanese movie that basically does the same thing is Battle Royale, except this time, teenagers have to kill each other. It's real hardcore, and deals with crazy issues, in crazy ways.

Yahtzee shoots stakes through things with "Painkiller"

If there ever was a shoot em up that was good for stress, Painkiller is it. I remember trying to line up zombies to shoot one stake and end up with a zombie shish kebab stuck to a wall. Good times.

It's no surprise the loves this game. At the end of one of his reviews (I'm not telling you which one, so you'll have to see them all) he does a take off of it where the good guy is offered "various oral services" for a job offer.

In other game news, Penny Arcade's "On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness" is out. I've already bought it, but not had the time to play it. Go get it! Or check out www.penny-arcade.com if you haven't heard of them.

Also, fat kids just never get a break do they, now even Nintendo is kicking them while they are down with Wii Fit telling them they are "FAT" based on body-mass index. Or not, as the case may be.

Been playing through a lot of "The world ends with you" as well. It's a pretty sweet game. The whole pin concept is awesome, and using it with the touch interface is interesting as well. It's definitely not for using in public transport through. You can't really go "scratch-mental" on a train and get away with it.

And he doesn't it run over and his money back afterwards. Heck he even says he's going to keep on playing it.

So all you need to do to keep Yahtzee happy is sell 500 million dollars worth of your game. And set it in Biggleswade. Pretty easy, right game developers?

Good to see he's adding some ads to the video, hope he gets some money out of it. And he's appearing on Game On in Australia soonish too, so go watch him. If you can. Please.

Other news: nintendo have set up a Mario Kart driving school just outside the train station I use to get to work.

The gf also loves her some Mario Kart.

Both these things make me want a Wii so bad. Too bad they are so rare here.

Yahtzee takes on the GIF theory

Hi guys, surely most of you would have heard about the Greater Internet Fwad theory by now, but if not, here 'tis:

Sometimes, you could make this some sort of Facebook law as well. Anyways, Yahtzee hasn't reviewed anything this week, which make me feel a bit better about being so late to update the site. But he has reviewed letters sent to him about his Smash Bros. review.

He's pretty nice about it, changing names and fixing spelling and grammar mistakes before flaying their skin.

Hope you liked it. In other game related news, GTA IV is getting quite a following here, with both Saturday Night Live (Not funny, again.) and Conan O'Brian (more funny, almost) using it for jokes. Just when a video game makes over $500 M in a week, it's considered... cool?

Games: Yahtzee reviews God of War: Chains of Olympus

So, after reviewing Smash Bros. and probably getting hugely popular, Yahtzee moves onto something a bit smaller... A PSP game.  Haven't had a chance to see this, but I hope it's good.

The PSP really hasn't had much newsworthy happen to it at the moment, but meanwhile, the Wii has Mario Kart out in America now. And someone I know has it. The wheel is pretty damn fun, and takes a while to get used to. I remember the days when everyone would laugh at the kid who would swerve left and right to try and turn better in SNES Mario Kart.

Now, you have to do that sort of thing to turn better.

Crazy. Can't wait to see people play this under the influence.

New Zero Punctuation: Yahtzee Reviews Super Smash Bros.

Bloody hell, I put this up six minutes after it gets made, then Kotaku, Wired and about a billion other sites link to it too. Maybe I should just start ranting about really popular video games and become hugely popular too.

But, as everywhere else has pointed out at least seventy billion times, he makes valid points:

Nintendo did the same sort of party trick with Wario Ware as well. FInally get a Wii in Australia, get Wario Ware, and get ready for a huge night of drinking and watching friend make donkey arses of themselves drunk. BUT NOOOOOOOOOO! You need to finish the DAMN single player campaign before you can even play Wario Ware!

Still going to get a Wii and this game here though. When I can find one. It's about as hard as removing your left testicle with a butter knife and not crying. But this post gives me hope. Maybe I'll only have to cut halfway through.

Other stuff Pt.2 Yahtzee Reviews Condemned 2: Bloodshot

It must be coincidence that I find a news article as horrific as this (good going, Colin "Collyboy" Moore, and Tim Mitchell of the small NSW town of Dareton, north of Mildura. I hope you like the arse-pounding you'll be getting in prison that you surely, surely deserve) and a game that features intense bum fights and murders is reviewed by Yahtzee on the same day.

Heard of Condemned 2? FPS that is basically smashing a bum over the head with a lead pipe over and over, and over and over..... and over again.

Then snapping his neck to make sure.

Incidentally, ads for this game have been on in America for yonks now. The ads involve some frail guy that hasn't done his hair in a locker room, when SUDDENLY! - the light flicker and some god forsaken analrapist (what you get when you put a analyst and and a therapist together, am I right, Mr Tobias Funke?) in a cult mask rush up to him a smash him onto the floor and into a locker, only to have the lights turn back on again, with the cleaner staring at him like he's a retard. What does this tell you?

Stoners will always have the crap kicked out of them by jocks.

Only now they'll think it's something out of a video game they played.

Oh, and other stuff...

So, I'm also a Huge fan of video games as well. I'll probably try and write about those as well, but there's no way in hell that I could ever review a game in a way that could hold a candle to this guy. This guy does the funniest review of games that I know, beating the pants off any IGN "try-hard" cool american gamer, or any Angry Video Game Nerd or Nerd wannabe. Today, he's reviewing a neat little game called "No More Heroes". There's a bit of swearing, so if you have young virgin ears, don't play this...
